Internship includes monetary stipend from KIPP to cover: necessary clothing, transporation and lunch.
For KIPP MA alumni interested in policy and politics, the KIPPternship on Beacon Hill program offers an opportunity for KIPP alumni to have a seat at the table on Boston’s Beacon Hill.
For college and high school students, summer internships remain one of the most powerful opportunities to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world experiences. Beyond experiencing the world of work, internships also give students invaluable opportunities to develop personal networks, meet peers who share similar interests, “tryout” an industry before settling on a career, and demonstrate skills to prospective future employers.
The KIPP MA team has developed relationships with Massachusetts Congressional offices that understand our mission and would be thrilled to have a KIPPster on their team for the summer.
Having KIPPsters interning in Boston at the State House allows local policymakers and thought leaders who otherwise would not have met a KIPP student or even walked into a KIPP school to be exposed to KIPP. In addition, KIPPsters gain invaluable first-hand knowledge of the inner-workings of our state’s government.
The reality is that summer internships, especially unpaid internships, are often a luxury many cannot afford. Since the majority of internships working for the elected officials are unpaid, KIPPterns will receive a stipend targeted to cover living expenses while working for the summer. During the summer, KIPPterns will participate in cohort experiences to document and reflect on their experiences.
