KIPP Massachusetts Names Jo Dominique as New Chief Academic Officer

(August 2023) KIPP Massachusetts Charter Public Schools named Jo Dominique as the new Chief Academic Officer.

Jo joins KIPP Massachusetts with an extensive background in education. Jo spent 9 years of her career in K-12 education and 2 years in higher education, citing that education “has and will continue to be” her life’s work.

Jo has taught in the classroom, was the Dean of Students and STEM Dean, and completed a principal residency, among other successful roles. Jo is a proud UConn graduate and holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Of her new role at KIPP, Jo says, “Yes, I love results. Yes, I’m a math NERD. Yes, I want to reimagine academics for our kids. Yes, I have high expectations (it’s racist not to). Yes, I am excited about a strong curriculum! AND…. Yes, I know that we have to lead in consciousness to get there. We have to see the purity in all of our children. We have to check ourselves, before we wreck ourselves (Smile). We have to be a ‘we’ because not one of us can do this alone.”

“We are so excited to have Jo’s combination of passion for children and our mission as well as her vision for an aligned K-12 academic experience across both our campuses,” KIPP MA Executive Director Nikki Barnes says, “Jo demonstrated a powerful desire to dig deeply into all kinds of data and use that to inform our vision and strategy for accelerating unfinished learning.  I’m excited to work shoulder-to-shoulder with her.”
