(May 2022) On May 19th, Ward 6 City Councilor of Lynn, Mr. Fred Hogan, visited Mr. Kmec’s Government class at KALC.
Leading up to the visit, students in Mr. Kmec’s class researched Mr. Hogan’s policies as well as other government policies at the municipal level and how the city of Lynn is affected by such policies.
During the visit with Mr. Hogan, students were able to ask questions about what it is like to be in public office, the process of supporting policies, and what is most challenging about his role as a City Councilor. Hogan addressed student interest in the construction of a new athletic field near Lynn Tech and assured them that KALC students will have access to the facilities should the construction project receive funding.
Hogan, a Lynn native, shared his passion for making Lynn an accessible and diverse city. He even shared stories of how he visited what is now the building that houses KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate for snacks and candy when he was growing up, and DJ’d with Dean of Students, Geoffrey Boyd back in the 1990s.
Fred Hogan was elected in 2019 and serves Ward 6 in the city of Lynn.
