(October 2023) On September 27th, The Advocacy Team held a KIPP Votes event for all eligible high school students to register to vote. The event was for students who will be 18 by November 7th, when city elections take place this year.
During advisory time, students met in the common spaces to meet with KIPP Massachusetts advocacy team members along with volunteers from Neighbor to Neighbor to discuss the importance of voting, the impact voting has, and to register to vote. At the event, 30 KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate students were able to register to vote.
KIPP Votes is a long-running campaign throughout all KIPP Public Schools regions to encourage eligible students, staff, and family members to register to vote by providing resources to those who are eligible and interested. Past events at KIPP Massachusetts include families phone banking with Union Capital Boston to call other families to remind them of upcoming elections.
